Who is Bullhead Fence
The first order of business is to let you know that
all of us at BullHead Fence want your business and
we expect to earn it. We know that you work hard for
your money and we will work hard to provide good service
and the best product your money can buy.
We have been in business building iron fences for
the largest homes and companies throughout the U.S.
for over 10 years. Our fences are known for their quality,
durability (100+ years) and magnificence. Our craftsmen
have protected the techniques that have been used to
build the fences that have surrounded many homes and
cemeteries for over a century and remain magnificent
to this day.
It is the objective of Bullhead Fence to provide our
customers with a fence of such quality and integrity
that it will hold up to the abuse of weather, children,
and the general use expected, and be solid for the
life of the structure it protects. Our iron fences
can be found in place around both new and old homes
alike. All our fences and gates are built from solid
steel. Unlike the tubular material used today for many
fences that appear to be iron fences, but deteriorate
from the inside out, our solid product has a proven
life span of over 100 years. Being a solid product,
the abuse that would destroy many of the PVC and tubular
fences seen today, have no effect of a solid iron fence.
Yet, as a result of the automation BullHead fence has
developed, all the advantages of this superior solid
100+ year iron fence can be purchased, in many cases,
for less that PVC and tubular fence products.
Ordering
To keep cost to a minimum BullHead Fence will ship
from inventory when the order is received.
Shipping
BullHead Fence will ship your order anywhere in the
world. We pride ourselves on building a superior product,
and to ensure that it arrives at it destination in
the same shape as it was shipped, each order will be
crated to minimize the chances of damage in transit.
The cost associated with crating your shipment will
automatically be calculated based on the size of the
order. This cost will appear on your order under shipping
preparation. If the order is large enough to be shipped
on a dedicated truck without transshipment we will
do this without crating the shipment.
Due to the weight of the iron fence, your order will
usually be shipped common carrier. We ship freight
collect, so you pay the actual shipping charges. We
do not make a profit on shipping. When your order arrives,
inspect it for damages. In the event damage occurred
during transit, you must file a damage claim with the
carrier. We cannot do this for you. Notify us if damage
occurred and we will assist you.
Guarantee
BullHead Fence guarantees your satisfaction with our
products. If you’re not satisfied let us know,
and we will make sure you are. We have sold and shipped
many fences, gates, and posts since we have been in
business. Customers we have spoken to have told us
that what they received was better than they expected.
Installation
Our fencing is designed to be welded or bolted together.
The average person with limited tools can install a
bolt-together fence. Complete instructions are available
under the instruction tab and you can download the
instruction manual.
Materials
The rails for BullHead fence are made from 1 ¼” x ½” x
1/18” solid bar channel iron. Round holes are
punched on the channel iron. Solid 1/2” round
bar pickets (12mm) are pressed through the channel
and forged in place on the under side of the channel,
so as to leave the forge marks unseen.
Finials are of two types of construction. Either type
is available. One is a forged serpentine finial that
is forged directly on the end of each picket. The second
is one of two different cast iron finials that are
attached with a setscrew to a plain picket.
All parts of the fence which include the fence panels,
post, gates, brackets, and finials are coated with
an exclusive long-lasting, space-age protective coating,
which unlike powder coating, used on low-end tubular
steel and aluminum panels, can be easily touched up
if that need should arise.
Warranty
There is a lifetime warranty on all materials and
workmanship.
Fence Panels
Panels are 100% solid steel. Pickets are available
with a one-piece forged serpentine finial or plain.
Cast iron finials with setscrews are available for
plain pickets and require no welding. Fence rails are
1 ¼ in. x ½ in. x 1/8 in. Bar Channel.
The pickets are 12 mm (1/2”) Solid Round Bar.
The space from the center picket to the center of
the next picket is 4 3/8 inches. The space between
pickets is 3 7/8 inches.
All Panels are forged together and are rigid. Model
500 Series fence (picket only fence) may be racked
in the field to accommodate a grade of about 2 inches
per foot.
All cast iron finials are available for panels without
serpentine forged pickets. The cast iron finals are
pre-painted and come with setscrews. The same applies
to post caps and fence panel-mounting brackets.
All fence panels are 94 inches long. The fence panels
are available in heights of 46 inches, 58 inches,
and 70 inches. The 70-inch fence panel comes with
three rails. The other panels have two.
Gates
Gates come with easy swing hinges and latches.
Each gate has a standard width of 44 inches and is
available in heights of 46 inches, 58 inches, and 70
inches. The 70-inch gate has three rails instead of
the two used on the shorter gates.
Each gate has a welded on side bar of 1 ¼ inch
x 3/8 inch flat bar steel. The gates can be ordered
with upgraded forged scrolls on the end sidebars by
adding a “U” to the part number of the
gate ordered. All pickets in the gates are forged in
place and welded on the underside of the rails. The
gate rails are 1 ¼ in. x ½ in. x 1/8
in Bar Channel.
Fence Posts
Fence posts are available in two heights, 72 inches
and 96 inches. It is recommended that the 72 inch high
post be used for the 4-foot high fence. In this configuration,
2 inches are left between the button of the fence and
the ground to make it easer to trim under the fence
and 24 inches of the post are imbedded in concrete.
All of the posts are made of 14-gage steel (0.0747
inches on averages) and the 72-inch post is 2 inches
square.
The 96-inch posts are available in 2 inch. The 2 1/2-inch
post is used with the 58-inch and 70 inch fence segments
normally. The 2-1/2 inch post is normally used with
the 70-inch fence segments.
When the 96-inch post is used with the 58-inch fence
segment, there must be at least 24 inches in the ground
surrounded by concrete. Depending on the preference
of the customer, this could be up to 36 inches. In
the case of 70 fence segments there must be 24 inches
in the ground surrounded by concrete.
The holes that are dug to hold the post should be
about 6 inches in diameter and a minimum of 24 inches
deep. These holes should be filled with concrete once
the post is inserted. It is further recommended that
the post themselves be filled with concrete, and as
they are filled, they should be taped to ensure that
the air is forced out of the post as they are filled.
The process of felling the post may be left until the
concrete in the hole has hardened so that the vertical
alignment of the post is not affected. This will substantially
increase the strength of the post and its longevity.
Caution: Before permanently putting the posts in place
with the concrete, test the position with the Fence
segments in place with the fence brackets (if used).
Also be sure you use a level on both sides of the post
to ensure that each post is perfectly straight and
the post sides are perfectly aligned with each other.
If the posts are filled with concrete be sure the concrete
is level with the top of the post, and be sure to clean
the outside of the post BEFORE the concrete dries
Once the posts are in place and the concrete is dry,
if used, the caps can be placed on the post. There
are two different post caps available. There is a flat
post cap and a cap with a ball on top.
